Week 2 Reflections

Things I have learnt this week: How using digital/ technology tools such as a camera can be used to teach their lessons - take pictures as evidences, facial experiments, to make photo book etc. I was amazed by all the types of activities we could implement just by using the digital camera. When asked about whether the camera could be used for lessons, most of us probably did not think of it originally until we were shown the video of some of its usage.

In the roles of teachers in 21st century in teaching and learning With the world changing and being technology enhanced, so must we incorporate such technology and educate  our students. Children nowadays are being spoon-fed into decision making and solving problems by adults who unconsciously help them when the need arises. However, in preparing children for the future, adults instead should learn to take a step back and allow the child to make his/her decisions and solve problems. In ICT, the teachers are also preparing them for future creativity. Teaching the foundations of ICT and implementing suggestions of skills where the children can manipulate with and eventually one day may be able to invent something we adults may not have thought of before

I am now more aware of the benefits of PLN or Personal Learning Network  for educators and children. This was something new to me even as I learn how we are to use tools that helps the individual connect with right people, deconstruct n reconstruct new knowledge/ideas.
Personal learning network is basically the collections of resources, connections, sharing and learning to reconstruct knowledge.

Tool belt theory- the need to use the right tools in teaching children to analyze tasks using their own skills and capabilities and forming their own decisions about them.
